My sympathies to the family of Jean Barr. Mrs. Barr, as I knew her was the most beautiful and compassionate public health nurse at my school in Glen Tay. I believe I was in grade 6 or 7 at the time. She inspired me - I wanted to be like her. I was very curious about all that a public health nurse did. I ultimately went into medicine, but I believe she inspired me to consider health care. I am grateful to her and send my heartfelt thanks.

I'm so very sorry to hear this news Katherine, Cara and Jim. I had the privilege of knowing your lovely parents from a very young age through St Paul's United Church and through my mom (Ruth Cole nee Gray) who babysat Jim. Early in my career, I then had the honour to learn from and work with your mom as colleagues with the Home Care Program. Her kindness and professionalism were just a couple of her countless attributes. As the years past I always enjoyed running into her around town. She always took interest in my family and enjoyed sharing what each of you were up to. A true gem. My heartfelt condolences to you and all of your extended family. Sincerely, Susan (Gray) Roberts.

Katherine, Cara and Jim, your beloved Mother was a beautiful person with a kind and generous heart. Our BC MacLeod family regularly visited our Alberta cousins on their Ohaton farm. Walter and I were looking forward to reciprocal visits with cousin Jean after her recent move to Victoria, but that was not to be. We will cherish our memories of this classy lady.

Dear Katherine, Cara, Jimmy and all your families, our very deepest condolences on the loss of your dear Mom. She always put on a lovely Christmas party for us and the kids when they were small and they might even have one of the special gifts she gave them. She encouraged Bob before his knee surgery and he did what she told him. She always kept up updated on what you were all doing if we met her on the streets in Perth. We are glad she got to at least spend a few of her last months with her family. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

My sincere sympathy to Jean's children, Katherine, Cara, Jimmy, and your families. My sympathy to Jean's family. I never knew how Ken & Jean met. How romantic! It was wonderful for Ken, her many friends and the community that Jean said "Yes". I remember Jean from her many church activities. She belonged to our UCW Unit. You could always count on Jean to make food and to take a shift to serve at our many church activities. We went to Camp Lau-Ren together. Jean was the camp nurse and helped with the crafts and camp fires. She was a CGIT leader. I remember her visiting my Kindergarten children as a Public Health Nurse. We loved Jean's happy, caring attitude. . My sister and Jean were pregnant at the same time. My nephew was born and a week later Katherine was born. I could envision what my sister looked like. I remember how Jean cooked a special dinner every Sunday night and invited Mrs. Barr for dinner. I lived in one of Mrs. Barr's apartments. It was fun to listen to the children as they brought Grandma back home. My last visit with Jean was at Ken's funeral. May all of your precious memories help to console you as you celebrate your Mothers exceptional life. Blessings. to you
