In Loving Memory of Kathleen Clara Turnbull (née McCabe)
Kathleen Clara Turnbull, born on November 7th, 1952, departed peacefully with her family by her side on December 19th, 2023, at the Perth and Smiths Falls District Community Hospital. After a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer, Kathy, as she was fondly known, left this world surrounded by the love she had cultivated throughout her remarkable life.
Kathy leaves behind her loving husband, Steve Turnbull, who stood by her side with unwavering support. She was a cherished mother to Corey (Diana) Turnbull, Cindy McCabe, Erin Turnbull, and Michael (Candy) MacGregor, each of whom felt the warmth of her love and guidance. Kathy, with motherly love and affection, guided nephew and niece David and Vicki (Allan Marcille) Milligan from childhood. Kathy's nurturing spirit extended to her role as a grandmother, bringing joy to the lives of Aidan and Joey Bisonette, Vincent and William MacGregor, Shona, Alina, and Keira Turnbull, Tara Coglan, and Elija Wilkie-Turnbull.
Kathy was a beloved sister to Nora Rooney, John McCabe (Sharon), Josie McCabe, and Brian McCabe (LeeAnne). She was predeceased by her father William McCabe, mother Clara McCabe, brothers William, Michael, Tom, Bernard, and sister Patsy. In addition to her immediate family, Kathy's warmth and kindness endeared her to many nephews, nieces, and friends who were fortunate to know her. She will be deeply missed by all.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Christine Nadeau, NP Terri-Lynn Stewart, and the compassionate nurses and doctors at the Perth and Smiths Falls Hospital for their exceptional care during Kathy's final weeks. A special note of appreciation for Nurse Julie Ferguson who provided home care support for Kathy during her illness.
In accordance with Kathy's wishes, there will be no formal services at this time. A celebration of her life will take place in the Spring of 2024, allowing friends and family to gather and honour her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Perth and Smiths Falls Community Hospital Foundation. Kathy's smile will forever be etched in the hearts of those she touched, and her legacy will continue to inspire love and kindness for generations to come.
