Obituary of Janet Evelyn Smith

Passed away peacefully at Rosebridge Manor on Thursday February 1st, 2024 at the age of 84. Born May 26, 1939 to William John Hodge of Cumnock, Scotland and Doris Millicent Pantlin of London, England. The family emigrated to Canada on the “Empress of Britain” in May 1957. 

Janet is predeceased by her beloved husband James Sidney in 2000. Janet will be sadly missed by her daughter Dawn Ann (Stephen) Gandier. She was the cherished Nan to Mitchell James (Ashley) and to Bronwynn Iris Sidney (Trevor Harkness). She was an extra special Great Nana to Izabella Lynn and another baby girl coming April 2024.

Janet will be fondly remembered by her siblings the late Robert James Hodge (Iva), Sharon and Alan. Along with brother-in-law Gary (Ruth) Smith.

She will be dearly missed by nieces, nephews and many friends.

In keeping with Janet’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family interment at Milton Evergreen Cemetery will be held later. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Lanark, Leeds & Grenville. Arrangements are in the care of Blair & Son Funeral Directors Inc., Perth.
