Obituary of Ronald McMillan
RON McMILLAN in his 83rd year, passed away suddenly, but peacefully at home on 21st March 2024.
Ron was an electrical engineer and also a licensed electrician. He emigrated from Scotland at age 23 with his wife and $100 in his pocket and went on to run, for many years, his own business in industrial controls and electrical work before joining J.L Richards & Associates as an electrical consultant and designer from which he retired at age 65.
He designed and built, by his own hand, on weekends, a 1500 sq foot bungalow.
He was a licensed pilot and owned various planes both single and multi-engine including one that he built himself from scratch, no kit, just a manual.
He was also an accomplished athlete, excelling in such sports as rugby, cricket, swimming, diving, golfing, skiing and various other sports.
In his retirement his passion was his cabin cruiser where he spent many hours redesigning, repurposing and making it a one-of-a-kind boat as well as spending most summers on the Rideau Canal and 1000 Islands.
He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 61 years, Anne, as well as by his daughter (Anne) and her children Jaryd, Liam, and Mackie.
Ron lived a life full of exceptional accomplishments and experiences that his family is proud of and forever grateful to have been a part of.
The extraordinary knowledge he had and passed on will be forever valued and his memory will live on through the stories he so lovingly told.
