My deepest sympathies to the Garton family on the loss of JB. My mother, Marie Wright (nee McCaw), was one of his cousins, and I had several opportunities over the years to join my parents when they visited Smiths Falls and were going to see JB. He was an amazing man and a talented carver, and my husband and I are lucky to have several of his creations in our home. We always joked after we shook hands with him, that we had to make sure nothing was broken, because he had such a strong grip. My last visit with JB was last August when I gave him back a painting that his mother had done for my parents many many years ago. As much as I would have liked to have kept it after my mother's passing, I felt it only right that it be returned to the Garton clan. I thought that he would immediately pass it along to one of his children or grandchildren, but as we left, I could see him picking out a spot in his room for it. JB will certainly be missed.

To the Garton family
Your Dad was a very close friend of my Dad, Allan Kerr. I have such fond memories of " Slim" coming to our place to go fishing or hunting with my Dad. He was such a kind gentle man and always had time to ask what I was up to and share what his kids were doing.
I have fond memories of visiting your home and creating havoc as a bunch of little kids would do.
Your Dad was extremely talented and it's nice to know he lived such a long and fulfilling life.

To the children, their spouses, grandchildren, and great grandchildren deepest sympathies at this time of loss. JB was one amazing friend, writer, craver, story teller and just a blessing to be around. Here is a memento of the last time the carvers were together at our house for a pot luck and time for sharing carving stories and fellowship! JB fly with the eagles and take the heavens over with your stories! Until we met again, you will mvp ever be forgotten!
