Obituary of Judith Bernice McLellan
Passed peacefully on June 15, 2024 in Carleton Place at the age of 89. Predeceased by her beloved husband Allan McLellan, her parents Harcourt and Lorena Ferguson (nee Garland), her sisters Dorothy Ferguson and Muriel Cassibo, as well as her grandson Brock Dowdall. Judy leaves behind her loving children John McLellan (Irene), Catherine Dowdall (Donald), Roy McLellan (Deborah), James McLellan, and Charles McLellan (Sandi); as well as her grandchildren Angela McLellan (Derek), Billy McLellan (Mary Ellen), Shannon McLellan (Dave Morris), Brad Dowdall (Chelsea), Robbie McLellan, Kimberly Cockins (Jeff), Edward McLellan (Samantha), and Daryl McLellan (Kelsey); and her great-grandchildren Emma & Leslie McLellan, Tatum & Blair Derbyshire, Alexander & Avery Dowdall, Clara, Luke, & Wyatt Cockins, and Kenzie McLellan . She will be fondly remembered by her siblings Marilyn Jansen and Walter Ferguson. Judy very much enjoyed travelling around the country with her husband and was heavily involved in his passion for steam engines and machinery. She was always by his side, ready to lend a hand, holding a paint brush, or helping put a little extra shine onto the brass. She spent much of her life working hard on the family farm, and tending to her vegetable gardens. She was well known for her sewing skills, something she continued right up until her eyes forced her to stop; she made several bridal sets and wedding dresses, including her own daughter’s. Judy loved being around her grandchildren and having her family over for large dinners on special occasions. Friends and family may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home (112 Beckwith St N, Smiths Falls) on Wednesday June 19, 2024 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Thursday June 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Blair & Son Reception Centre. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Community Home Support Lanark County or the Canadian Cancer Society.
