I am 43 and I have a career that includes making music. It wouldn’t have been possible without Mrs. McMahon instilling confidence in my abilities. I am forever grateful and appreciative of her and will never forget what she did for me and for our Perth community. Thanks, Mrs. McMahon. Rest well.

Louis and I (Nancy Gaudreau) only lived in Perth for 6 years from 2012 to 2018, but we will remember Ann forever. We first met her when Louis sang in the St John's choir, then we both started volunteering at the community dinners that Ann organized so well. She shared plants from Peter's beautiful garden with us and we always enjoyed seeing her walking briskly, hatless even in mid-winter, through Perthmore. Ann hosted a lovely 60th birthday party for Louis. I travelled back to Vermont regularly to visit family and returned with butternut squash from our Vermont garden for Ann and our other Perth friends. Customs didn't seem to care about squash, so I brought lots, since we had huge quantities growing on the horse's manure pile. On this past Thursday, June 27th, which would have been Ann's 87th birthday, I took a pint of frozen squash out of the freezer. I had labeled it "Ann McMahon's squash" in 2022. I had planned to bring this squash to Ann on my first post-covid visit in the fall of 2021. Ann and I would have breakfast at Cafe Hideaway and talk about her latest theatre festival trip. I could not come because Louis started dialysis soon after, so I froze the squash. I baked pumpkin cupcakes with Ann's squash on her birthday and iced them with cream cheese frosting. This seemed like a good way to remember Ann as she looks down from heaven. With love always, Louis and Nancy Gaudreau

I am one of the hundreds of luckiest kids in the world who had Mrs. McMahon as my elementary school music teacher. She features in so many of my happiest childhood memories, from belting out "Red River Valley" on the music room carpet, a field trip to sing songs from Oliver! at Lanark Lodge, learning the definition of putting together a musical on a "shoestring budget" -- & how spectacular it could be with many hands pitching in under Mrs. McMahon's kind & clear guidance. She helped us all to be our best selves, & I know I will hold her as a role model for the rest of my life.
Sending so much love to her family & those closest to her. May you have the time & space & support you need to grieve & process & hold your own memories of her.

Sending my condolences to Mara, Tom and Mark and families. Your mom was simply the best. I will also remember her unwavering positivity, her kind and generous heart, and her music room.
Thank you, Ann, for listening to me play (poor) piano for you every week for 12 years! That was a lot of chopsticks to endure, but your encouragement kept me going. How lucky am I to have had you as a constant presence in my life.

Dear Tom, Mara and Mark -
As 'across the street' neighbours for a few years, we have such fond memories of your family - from celebrating Australia with Ann's divine Pavlova, to shooting the breeze during Nina and Robin play dates. I was especially honoured when Ann trusted me to prune Peter's cherished rose bushes. Our deepest condolences on the loss of your dear Mom.

I have so many fond musical memories of Ann from my early days, singing in church choirs and the PCC. She played the organ at our wedding almost 28 years ago at St. John’s Church. She was always so kind and interested, with a lovely twinkle in her eye. She will be missed by so many but her legacy of sharing her love of music will live on. My dearest condolences to Tom, Mara and Mark and your families. Fondly, Tracy Rait-Parkes

Mara & John,
We are so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. She was a great lady, quiet, and kind with an inner strength. Your Mom was my music teacher at Drummond Central School and she was certain that I would be a part of the choir even though I could not carry a tune if I tried!
Sending you our thoughts of strength and courage. Losing a parent is never easy at any age.
Deepest Sympathies,

Dear members of Ann’s family,
Your mother’s passing has left a void in your family and in our community. She shared her many gifts willingly and always with a warm smile. We last enjoyed her remarkable leadership of The Bells of St. Paul’s when they performed at a Perth Probus Club meeting. The room was filled, not only with the chimes of the bells but also with her love of music and delightful connection with her audience. She will be greatly missed. Our sincere condolences.

I later learned that she was cherished by many people in Perth.
My thoughts are with her family and her many friends.

My condolences to all of Ann's family and friends. As a music teacher in Lanark County, I would sometimes see Ann at area music teacher meetings and gatherings. I didn't really get to know her better until I joined the St. Paul's Bells handbell choir as a supply for when others were absent. Ann was so supportive and patient, and she taught me so much about bell ringing. She was a force to be reckoned with, and a music icon in the Perth area. She will be missed by many. May your wonderful memories help you through this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

To Mara, Tom and Mark our sincere condolences. Your mom was a wonderful human being, so loving and generous, and boy could she play the piano! Diana had the privilege of playing duets with Ann (she called Beethoven, Mozart, Kuhlau and others, the boys!) over a period of ten years, once a week! She will be so missed by so many, particularly those in the musical community, but what a blessing to have had her in our midst for so many years. Rest in peace dear Ann. And thank you.
