Obituary of Aaron Patrick Stanistreet
After a strong and courageous battle with cancer, Aaron put down his sword on July 29, 2024 and went with God. Aaron was a true warrior and defied all odds, getting to stay with us through sheer determination and resilience for almost two years after his diagnosis. He loved playing sports especially volleyball and hockey and was known by his teammates as strong, hard-working, and focused. Aaron was exceptionally bright and believed in logic and justice, and had the absolute best sense of humour. He worked through cancer to keep up with his classes and enjoyed spending time gaming and watching anime. He has left us with so many great stories and memories. No matter how difficult things became, he never lost hope or the desire to beat cancer and live the life he was meant to, a life full of great plans, adventure and a family of his own. He leaves behind his parents, Brad and Megan Stanistreet, his sister Sophie and his brother Gabe, as well as grandparents Mary Pat and Fran Bingley and Peter and Cathy Stanistreet, aunt Lucie, his North Bay deJourdan family and his great-grandmother Arlene Bingley. He will be missed by his many aunts, uncles and cousins, and his best friend, Gabriel. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home (112 Beckwith St N, Smiths Falls) on Thursday August 1, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis de Sales Church (17 Elmsley St N) on Friday August 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery with a reception to follow at Hanley Hall. Donations may be made to the CHEO Foundation or the SickKids Foundation. We encourage you to give blood and join the stem cell registry. Aaron had almost 400 transfusions, giving blood saves lives.
