Obituary of Rev Harold William Davies
Davies, Rev Harold William
1923 – 2024
Harold was very determined to reach his goal of living 100 years. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 29th, 2024. Harold was predeceased by his wife Helen, grandson David and brothers Harvey and Russell. He leaves behind his daughters Dorothy (Richard), Ruth and Esther-Ann (Jim). He is survived by his grandchildren Ian (Amy), Nick (Katelyn), Alexis (Craig), Katherine (Jan), Greg, Mark (Renee), Lisa (Kurt); his great-grandchildren Reuban, Jackson, Leila, Eric (Amber), Karson, Paige, Harrison, Olivia and his great great granddaughter Emma-Rose and grand dog Mindy.
Harold began his career as a United Church minister in 1952 shortly after marrying the love of his life, Helen Clark. Together they worked at churches in Hornepayne, Orillia, Maple, Cookstown, Pakenham and Ottawa, prior to working to support small churches in the Northern Pastoral Region of the Bay of Quinte conference. In retirement he worked an interim minister to help churches transition between ministers and then worked part time at St. Paul’s in Perth, a church very dear to his heart.
Family was everything to Harold. Together he and Helen made sure the girls travelled across Canada. He was always willing to lend an ear, give sage advice or a helping hand to all. We will miss his love, support, dry wit and constant puns. He will always be in our heart.
We would like to thank the staff in the Oakridge Neighbourhood of Lanark Lodge for their diligent care of Harold over the past several years.
