Thompson, Brian A. Brian died peacefully in hospital, Smiths Falls, on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at the age of 71. Beloved husband of Gloria (nee Popkey) Thompson and together recently celebrated their 50th anniversary in October. Proud father of Tara (Dave) Dubue, Todd (Jessica) Thompson and Chris (Rebecca) Thompson. Loved grandpa and poppa to Briana and Lindsay Dubue, Aila and Egan Thompson, Abigail and Mackenzie Thompson. Dear brother of Lois Aronovitch, Shirley (the late Cyril) McGrath, Mary Helen (the late Bill) Kelford, Doug (Joan) Thompson and Jim (Vi) Thompson. Predeceased by his parents Allen and Alice Thompson. Fondly remembered and sadly missed by his numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. After a long and well respected career in the electrical industry in Ottawa, Brian and Gloria returned back to Smiths Falls to enjoy retirement. Brian (BT) thoroughly enjoyed many years of golfing at the Rideau View Golf Club in Manotick with his golf crew and when he returned back to Smiths Falls he reconnected with many childhood friends and met new acquaintances at the Smiths Falls Golf & Country Club where many new memories were made. Brian will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his family and many friends. Family and friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Falls on Friday, December 6th, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Brian’s life will be held on Saturday, December 7th, 2019 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Smiths Falls Golf and Country Club. If desired, memorial donations in memory of Brian may be made to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation (Ottawa Regional Cancer Center) or the Irving Greenberg Family Cancer Centre.
