Chris passed away on Friday, September 6th, 2024 at the Perth Hospital. She spent her final days with her family by her side giving her lots of love during her final journey. She was predeceased by her mother Norma Girdwood Rostron (1994) and her father James (Jim) Rostron (1974).
Her loving family - husband Bill, son Michael (Melissa), son Colin (Gen); her precious grandchildren Lily, Nora and Kent of Metcalfe and Gabby of Carp; her sister in-law Kathy and brother in-law Harry (Marianna). Although she had few relatives of her own, she made all those she cared about a part of her family.
Chris was born and brought up in Toronto. She went to Carleton University in Ottawa and studied Journalism and enjoyed taking Architecture courses. She graduated in 1976 with an HBJ degree. Working in journalism as a summer student for Ontario Hydro in North Bay she met Bill in Abitibi Canyon during the summer of 1975. They were married in 1976 and lived in North Bay, then Algoma area, Perth, Manitoulin Island, Barrie, Belleville and back to Perth. Michael was born in Sault Ste. Marie and Colin in Sudbury.Chris worked outside the home as the Assistant Registrar at Nipissing University, supply teacher, gifted children teacher, manager of the Guild Shop at Albert College and bookkeeping and support to Trillium Point Group She was an at-home Mom for Michael and Colin. She had many community commitments over the years: Canadian Cancer Society, Rotary, and the Canadian Federation of University Women. She was someone who was generous with her time.
Chris had many talents - culinary, decorating, gardening, dog training and needlepoint. She was an accomplished slumped glass artist and felt that the world can't have enough glass flowers. She also had an extraordinary talent for overestimating the size of spiders.
A private interment with her parents in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto will take place at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Blair & Son Funeral Directors, Perth.
