DeLisle, Robert “Bob” Francis
January 21, 1954 – October 21, 2024
Bob passed away peacefully on October 21, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family at the Perth Site of the Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital. He was the beloved husband and partner of Elaine (nee Gemmill) for 48 years, and the adored and respected father of Haley (Martin Roux), Lesley (Galen Syme) and Ryan (Melissa Serson). Bob was the cherished poppa of Jacob, Chloe and Matthew Roux, Evelyn and Lucas Syme, Makayla and Maddison DeLisle. He will be greatly missed by his sister Joann (Wilf Hall) and Elaine’s siblings Earl (Heather) and Walter (Marie) Gemmill, best friend Kurt Penfold, and all his many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He is predeceased by his parents Leo and Nora (nee Healey) DeLisle, his sister Anita (Jim Traynor), brother Paul (Lois) DeLisle, and brother-in-law Dale (Mary) Gemmill. Bob was the caretaker of Elphin Church and Hall for 33 years; he served on the board of managers for all his years living in Elphin and was vice chair of Crawford’s Cemetery for many years. Although he had a few different occupations throughout his life, he was happiest working as a packer, going up and down the country roads or flagging and talking with all who stopped to chat with him and puffing on his cigar. He loved to cut grass in the summer and puttering in his workshop. Bob took pride in keeping everything pristine and enjoyed feeding the deer and winter birds. He will be dearly missed.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at the Elphin Presbyterian Church on Saturday, October 26th, 2024 at 3:00pm, with visitation two hours prior to the service. Interment to follow in Crawford’s Cemetery with a luncheon back at the church hall. In honour of him, memorial contributions to C.H.E.O. or Crawford’s Cemetery would be greatly appreciated.
