Mark Koehler passed away October 21, 2024 at the age of 61. The second son of three to Klaus and Jutta, Mark was born November 16, 1962 in Toronto, Ontario, and spent his childhood on the shores of Lake Simcoe in Keswick, Ontario.
Mark had a distinguished career with the Ontario Provincial Police, retiring after 32 years at a rank of Sergeant. Throughout his career he worked throughout Ontario, and finally settled with his family in Perth in 1999. His career was a footnote at the bottom of the page of his real story, which was the life he built with his Wife, Ingrid. He met Ingrid while attending Georgian College in Barrie, Ontario in 1981. After several years of dating, they were married on May 31, 1986, and from there had 5 children, with their children’s spouses growing their family even more – Michael, Bryan (Courtney), Karlene (Majid), Alex, and Janelle (Will).
Mark was the definition of a family man, with his wife and children always at the forefront of his mind. His primary focus was to provide for them and guide them through the challenges of life, always prepared with his dry wit to lighten the room. He passed on his love of travelling, fishing, and camping to his family, but despite years of effort, was never able to pass on his love of hunting. Mark will be missed dearly by his family and friends whose lives he shaped and for whom his guidance and support was invaluable. His legacy, lessons, and learnings will be carried and shared by those who knew him best.
Family and friends will gather to pay their respects, share memories and celebrate Mark’s life at Farrell Hall, 186 Gore St. East, Perth on Monday, October 28, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:30 P.M. There will be a brief tribute to Mark’s life at 2:30 P.M.
