Obituary of Riley Edward Garner
Mr. Riley Garner, age 74, of Perth, Ontario, passed away on the 4th of November, 2024 in the Civic Hospital, Ottawa, Ontario with his spiritual partner and cosmic guide Maureen O’Brien by his side.
Riley was born in Victoria, BC to Roscoe and Magaret Garner (predeceased) on November 21, 1949, a child of three, brother Tom (Cheryl, Jason and Joel) and sister Shelley (Mike, Jeremy and Julie). Married to Maureen O’Brien on July 14, 2000, at their cottage on Otty Lake, they lived a creative and balanced life together with their little dog Roscoe. Riley was a traveler, maker, free spirit guide of his globe trotter soul. He saw the world through the lens of the most peaceful creative venturer and educator. Riley spent 18 years mentoring so many impressionable minds to explore their creative centers and the process of deconstructing and reconstructing the spaces we all inhabit and thrive to live, play, eat, sleep and meditate within. Riley’s passions kept him very involved in developing and forever reaching into his art, his music, his sculpting, his sports, his gardening, his creation of a home to share with his best friend and soulmate.
Visitation will be held at Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W. Perth, on Thursday, November 21st, 2024, at 1:00 P.M., followed by a service in the Chapel at 2:00 P.M. and a Celebration of the Life of Riley in the Reception Centre until 4:30 P.M.
Memorial donations may be made to Perth Table to Garden or Friends of Westport Library. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Perth Hospital, the Ottawa Civic Hospital, all the nurses, friends, and family for all their healing love and unwavering support.
