Obituary of Daniel Joseph Keaney

Keaney, Daniel Joseph

August 22, 1961 – January 13, 2025

Our hearts are broken to announce the passing of Dan Keaney at the age of 63 after a brief battle with cancer.  Danny leaves behind his wife and best friend of 40 years, Debbie (Wood) and his 4 beautiful daughters, Victoria Bourque (Denis), Meaghan Keaney, Abigail Kerr (Pat) and Lisa Keaney along with his 4-legged companion, Lucy.  He was the proud Poppie of 6 grandchildren - Dawson, Danika, William, Hannah, Denver and Ava.  Danny is survived by his 2 sisters – Catherine Bradshaw and Jean Makichuk (Tom) and his brother-in-law David Wood (Stacey) and sister-in-law Dianne Wood (the late Brian Demers).  He was predeceased by his mother and father, Walter and Mary Keaney and his in-laws, Lawrence and Miriam Wood and brother-in-law, Jim Wood (Brenda)

Danny was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life – his family, good conversation, camping, and fishing.  He was also very proud of his Irish roots.  Danny was an avid runner and it was not uncommon to see him running the roads around Lanark County or walking with his 4-legged side kick.  One of his bucket list moments was qualifying for and running The Boston Marathon.

Friends are invited to join the family for a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 86 Princess St, Lanark, on Monday, January 20, 2024 at 1:00pm. Interment will take place at Crawford Cemetery, McDonalds Corners. There will be a Celebration of Life for Danny, where all are welcome to join, at the Lanark Civitan, 2144 Pine Grove Road, Lanark from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. In remembrance of Dan, memorial contributions to the Lanark Highlands Food Pantry or Crawford Cemetery would be greatly appreciated.
