I have many warm memories of Bob and his family. It was a pleasure knowing him and working with him. He always wanted to "do it right" and understood the right way to do it.
Bob and what his family and staff have accomplished in the businesses and in the community have always been used as examples of how it could and should be done.
It is a loss of a business friend, but more so,...just a friend.
He'll be missed, but memories will live on.
hinking of you, this week.

To the entire Ellard family, please accept my sincere condolences on your loss.
On a professional note (which is how I came to know Bob), I have always cited your family’s store as an example to follow of best retail practises.
As a Home Hardware Building Center owner, I strive to meet the retail standard Bob has set, not only in Perth, but throughout the entire Home Hardware organisation.
The legacy Bob has instilled in his store and passed on to Richard and the entire team at Perth Home Hardware Building Center is a model to follow for any retailer.

I am truly sorry for your loss and was shocked when mom (Judy Simpson of Perth Home Hardware) told me what happened.

I really appreciated when Bob and Richard took the time to travel to Lansdowne for my husbands funeral and pay their respects to myself, my children and my mother.

To the Ellard Family:
Richard, I am saddened to hear of Bob’s (Robert’s) passing. Everyone at Home Hardware had a great deal of respect for your dad. He touched a lot of people here, at Home; a very positive and understanding person. I can remember when he set up his store in the 1980's, coming from C.T.C. he had a lot of great ideas that he passed on to our staff here, in St. Jacobs. His skill and philosophy as a merchant were key to his success. Early on I spoke to Bob on a weekly basis; he passed on what his successes were and was always looking for ideas and deals that would please his customers and drive traffic. He had that unassuming, genuine personality. His examples as a merchant lead other Members to improve their stores. He followed the Home program; if he had ideas on how we could improve he would quietly voice his opinion. It was always great to get ideas from a professional merchant. The Home Hardware family has lost a very influential Member; a Member we all respected and admired. We will miss not seeing Bob.
With sympathy,
Ray Gabel

It was my pleasure to have attended the latest Ladies Night at Home Hardware in Perth. It was an impressive affair. One could tell that Mr. Ellards heart and soul was in this business.
I reside at Lanark Lodge. I wanted to let his loved ones know just how much the beautfiful flowers meant to the residents and staff here. The flowers were lovingly being placed in smaller arrangements and placed in many various rooms. There is one beautiful boquet sitting in the lounge where I enjoy my leisure time.
May God bless Mr. Ellard's loved ones,as he blessed others in our community.
Sincerely,
Debbie Wilson
