A kind & lovely, fun & spirited lady has left us, and she will be missed by all whose lives she touched.
She was a cheerful & helpful volunteer in my school library as well as a treasured volunteer at Lanark Lodge.
I am so pleased to have known her, and that I was able to visit her yesterday in her final hours.
She has earned her final rest; R.I.P. dear Reta, till we meet again.

I have been thinking of Reta a lot today. I remember that although she didn't have children of her own, she was so kind to the students in my school library, and they respected her. I referred to her as my "grandparent helper" because usually the adult helpers are parents of the school students. After doing a little math, I realize that she was then the same age that I am now, and I do not feel old enough to be called a grandmother! How perceptions change as we age!

It was my honour to have known Reta for almost seven years. She brought sunshine into the lodge filling up the vases with flowers for all to enjoy. She was always thinking of others.
Through all of her struggles, she can now rest in peace. All who knew her can rejoice that she will rest in peace with the Lord, and her dear husband. Her memory will not fade.

Reta was my mothers cousin and I have known her my whole life. I have many fond childhood memories of us visiting her and Don at their five and dime store in Lanark, and also when she would frequently join my parents, sister and I for holiday dinners. She will be greatly missed but will always be remembered.

Reta was a real lady. I always marvelled at her neverending quest for knowledge, whether it was travelling the world, learning French, Tai Chi, or bridge. As my cousin, we have shared many good dinners, laughs and bridge games. Riggady toot Reta, you are with your Don.

Rita and Don were stalwart Lanark people-the 5 and 10 cent store was the stopping place for ever so many Lanark residents. Always a smile and a helpful hand.
Reta and my mother (Jean Dugdale Foster) traveled together on many ELDERHOSTEL learning "vacations." She and Mom were always eager to explore and learn new things.
Last time I met Reta was at a restaurant in Perth to have lunch when I was back home for a visit. Reta was always ready for a social outing.
She will be missed by many. Rest in peace, my friend.
