I'm so thankful I was able to have a visit with her in September. There are so many fantastic & fun memories of Marty & the Dales family, both in Smiths Falls & Sudbury. (Like the time she cut Jim Adams' tie in half....while he was wearing it.) I'm sorry We're not able to attend Marty's service & celebration of life, but thoughts and prayers abound from Kamloops!

To the entire Dales, Murray Families. I cannot begin to express what Marty meant to all the Deegans (and anyone else who had the pleasure of knowing her). She and Mom were like Lucy and Ethel and there was never a dull moment, Wendy and I often wondered why we had ever introduced them. Your loss is great but I hope you will take comfort in the memories you share and the love she shared so unconditionally. Her Kids were her world but she always made room for others. I am so sad to learn of Marty’s passing. The loss your family feels is shared by so many, which is a testament to her enormous sharing of love, humour and community mindedness. Through the Deegans I came to know Marty and all of you, immediately thinking of her as some kind of bonus aunt or something. I can think of dozens of social occasions where I’d somehow make my way to Marty’s table and grab a little chat with her. There was always laughter, but also the feeling that for that moment, you were the most important thing and she really wanted your company. I just loved her, as did hundreds of others. The world is a little less cheery right now, but the support and prayers of a grateful community is sure to sustain you as you adjust to life without her. God bless.

I was so shocked to see Marty's obituary in the Record News today. I certainly would have attended the wake and funeral had I known. I remember Marty so well when I was in the St. Francis high school drama club. She was always there helping out with getting our stage makeup on and hair done for our characters. She was a wonderful patient lady who I never forgot after all these years. To her family I send my deepest condolences in the loss of such a great soul. She will be missed.
