Growing up on the weekends, right in flower; across the road from Sandy & Lorna, I can say I have many fond memories of Sandy. I can picture him perfectly in navy work pants and a plaid shirt, just like my poppy, the classic Flower Station man. He’d always rest laying up the side hill talking to dad under the deck. He was my favourite visitor. I’d love when he’d come over to catch up later on Sunday afternoon. That would hold dad up from cutting the grass, which would hold us up from leaving and we could work on our forts just a little longer, although often I just liked to sit quietly and listen to them talk. I loved the soft, slow tone of Sandy’s voice mixed with the Ottawa valley accent but how he’d tell stories with such enthusiasm. I’d Iike to think he taught me a thing or two about being a social butterfly. I’ll never forget the summers with Brandy, and like me I hope you find peace in knowing they are together once more. Sandy never failed to tell me as I got older how much he loved watching “yous girls playin with that dog, just tuckerin her right out!’ If there’s one more thing I also know Sandy loved to no end was his family! His kids and all the grandkids and great grandkids, I know you must be missing him so much because he loved you all so purely. My deepest condolences to you, he was such a sweet, outgoing & wonderfully positive man.

My sincere condolences to you Lorna, your 3 sons and their families. I am sharing a picture of Lynda and Sandy. We were friends from the age he is in this picture wearing his little wooden shoes. We started school when we were 5 and I always looked up to him as he was always a 100% student. We did complete the 8 grades in public school although my grades were never as impressive as his were. RIP Sandy.

My most endearing memory of Sandy was his greeting, “G’Day”. It always made me feel good. Every time I was with him I felt good and very seldom when I was with him we felt the need to disagree. He was a great example for not only the young people around him but me as well. He expected a lot but no more than he expected from himself. He was what I call a high profile person of high expectations and ideals but still approachable. One of my fondest memories would be taking our son David to Widow’s Lake ice fishing with Sandy and the Clan. After a successful day of fishing and throwing the football around Kerry found it entertaining to get videos of his Uncle John lying on the floor at Flower Station, with his own camera, after a little too much whisky, on the lake, on a beautiful sunny but very cold day. We always had fun and always looked after each other. I hope that tradition never changes. David Duke will always remember that day, I’m sure, as everyone that was there, because Sandy was there. I always felt that if things weren’t quite what they should be Sandy’s wonderful wife Lorna would be the glue to keep things together. Rest In Peace Sandy! Your Brother John Russell Deachman.

To Lorna and families, please accept our deepest condolences at the passing of Sandy. He was a true gentleman in every respect. He used to cut mother's grass on South St. in her aging years and was always so polite that mother often spoke of him to me. He would go out of his way to make sure everything was just right. He will be missed by all but his memories will forever live on.

Lorna, Kerry, Kevin, Trevor and families,
I am so very shocked to hear of Sandy’s passing. When I started working in Perth, I called him Russell, and my coworkers found that amusing. He was known to everyone as Sandy, but I continued to call him Russell for the time I had the pleasure of knowing him. He was such a wonderful, kind, gentleman, and an absolute treasure, I truly enjoyed meeting the folks I got to meet while I was working in Perth, and Lorna, Russell and their children and families were among the best.
I met quite a few characters that left a lasting impact with me, and Russell was one of them. I saw him a few times at Giant Tiger in Perth, after I retired in 2010, and I will say I will miss him. My heart breaks for his family, I know they were close. My very sincere condolences to all of you, I’m sending love and hugs, at this very difficult time. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
