Obituary of Dr. Stephen Blair Moore
Dr. Stephen Moore passed away peacefully at the Perth Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, January 5th, 2025 at the age of 79. He was born in London Ontario, on February 10th, 1945, to the late Stephen Alva Moore and Florence Elizabeth McRae. He leaves behind his cherished wife Ann, his children Andrew and Heather, and 5 grandchildren.
Growing up, Stephen had an interest in photography, an enthusiasm for football, and a passion for learning, which led him to University of Western Ontario Medical school where he graduated as valedictorian in the class of 1969. After an internship in Montreal and residencies in Toronto and London, England, Stephen and Ann settled in Peterborough, where he practiced as a respirologist from 1975 to 1996. There they raised two children, Stephen Andrew Moore and Heather Ann Moore. In Peterborough, Dr. Moore made significant contributions to the medical community and showed enormous dedication to the wellbeing of his patients. In 1996, Dr. Moore and Ann moved to New Hampshire, where he practiced internal medicine in Claremont.
In 2002, they returned home to be closer to their family, and settled in the Perth-Smith Falls area. Here, Dr. Moore resumed his practice of internal medicine until his retirement in 2017 at the age of 72. During his career, Dr. Moore made significant contributions to the communities and people he served. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues and all who knew him.
A gathering to honour his life will take place at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore St. W. Perth, on Wednesday, January 8th, 2025 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, all are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Cancer Research Society would be appreciated by the family.
